The Shining Face of Moses
When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, with the two tables of the
testimony in his hand as he came down from the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because he had been
talking with God. And when Aaron and all the people of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin
of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near
him. But Moses called to them; and Aaron and all the leaders of the
congregation returned to him, and Moses talked with them. And afterward all the people of Israel came near, and he gave them in
commandment all that the LORD had spoken with him in
Mount Sinai. And when Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a veil on his
face; but whenever Moses went in before the LORD to speak with him, he took
the veil off, until he came out; and when he came out,
and told the people of Israel what he was commanded, the people of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face
shone; and Moses would put the veil upon his face
again, until he went in to speak with him.

The Gift of Love
Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets,
third teachers, then workers of miracles, then healers, helpers, administrators, speakers in various kinds of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work
miracles? Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all
interpret? But earnestly desire the higher gifts. And I will show you a still more
excellent way. If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a
noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all
knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove
mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver my body to be burned, but
have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is
not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all
things. Love never ends; as for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues,
they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass
away. For our knowledge is imperfect and our prophecy is imperfect; but when the perfect comes, the imperfect will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I
reasoned like a child; when I became a man, I gave up
childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in
part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have
been fully understood. So faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is
love.

The Transfiguration
Now about eight days after these sayings he took with him Peter and John
and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. And as he was praying, the appearance of his countenance was altered,
and his raiment became dazzling white. And behold, two men talked with him, Moses and Eli'jah, who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure, which he was to
accomplish at Jerusalem. Now Peter and those who were with him were heavy with sleep, and when
they wakened they saw his glory and the two men who
stood with him. And as the men were parting from him, Peter said to Jesus, "Master, it
is well that we are here; let us make three booths,
one for you and one for Moses and one for Eli'jah" -- not knowing what he
said. As he said this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were
afraid as they entered the cloud. And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is my Son, my Chosen;
listen to him!" And when the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept
silence and told no one in those days anything of what
they had seen.
